Full-Time Hobby is inspired by my journey navigating a career in the music industry. If you push through what might first appear to be a self-deprecating tag line, you’ll find the song is actually quite hopeful. It’s about building yourself back up, giving yourself space and time when you’re burning out and guarding what’s important in your life.

The lyric “There’s beauty in searching, Searching for something, A sound in your mind, A feeling worth trusting” is the first four lines of both this song and “Peachfruit”. This lyric sums up why I’m making music and why the record exists. It states my belief that the process of creating art should be enjoyed and is very much worth the struggles it requires.

This song features Dave Clark on drums. Dave knows how to express joy through music better than anyone else I know. He’s also somebody who has helped me work through times when I’ve felt lost as an artist and I’m very thankful (and it’s very suiting) to have him lay down the foundation to this song.

It also features another incredible smile-inducing musician, Ivy Mairi on vocals.
